What are the Key Elements of Leadership?

                                                Nothing is permanent except change.
Leadership is one of the greatest intangibles of the business world. It is a skill that most people love to possess, and it is also about managing energy that is first started with you your self and then those people round you. Anyone can be a leader, but not every one can choose to do so. Many people have good ideas and believe in them, but they have so low energy in their beliefs that nothing much happens, and that is why there are a few people can become good leaders. Being leaders, they have to put much consideration of what has been happening around them, and it is required to be creative to fairly and effectively solve it. Relatively, the following key elements of leadership can be suggested (Clawson, 2006, p. 34):
A. Leader: It refers to the individual leader in a leadership situation that possesses characteristics influencing on the outcomes. It is required for a leader him/herself to ask and answer these questions. Who are you and how you present yourself, your choice, language, demeanor, energy level-because these will have impacts on the outcomes. The individual leader’s personal characteristics such as preferences, skills, values, goals, education, interpersonal style, and psychological makeup will shape the leader’s ability to observe, to make sense of and deal with the environment, to understand and relate the followers, to manage change, to define and work towards a goal.
B. Task: This is related to what we should do in terms of leadership. It depends on what the leaders see, what the leaders believe that they can do, and how they behave. This involves sensing, seeing, and appreciating what is taking place around us. The capacity to appreciate what is happening around you is not an innate gift, but rather a skill that you can develop and strengthen.
C. Others: It is related to working together with followers especially the relationship between the leaders and followers. It can be said that leadership doesn’t happen without followers. The followers bring a set of characteristics including values, preferences, experience, goals, educational background, and concerns, and do the leaders. Related to these, the leaders have to understand and know how to manage and lead them carefully and justly, or the followers will not listen, trust, and respect.
D. Organization: It is relevant to designing the right context. The leaders have to work with followers to develop the convergent views of what the firms or organization should be doing, in particular, the structure of the organization and the system that hold it together become increasingly important. The leadership of the organization decides what they want the structure and the system of the business to be.
