How to Set a Smart Goal

A smart goal is 1 to 3-year effective action statement that is required to participate and implement by all the departments in the organization. A smart goal is avoid using what is called “Semantics that means something which can not be measured”. Relatively, a smart goal should cover the following characteristics:
(1). Writing: A smart goal should be written with the words “increasing, decreasing, reducing, or maintaining, and it always shows the movement.
(2). Characteristics: SMART:
(a). Specific: It is related to whether the goal is talking about increasing, decreasing or reducing.
(b). Measurable: This is concerned with the clear quantity, for example, 23 % or 10 million dollar
(c). Actionable or Achievable: A smart goal must be actionable. Actionable means that the goal does not be useful for today but it is workable for a period of desirability.
(d). Reasonable or Responsible: A smart goal must be reasonable, and acceptable that every one in the organization agrees and gets accomplished.
(e). Time-bound or time frame: A smart goal must define a clear time that in what year or how long it will reach its desired goal.
For example: To increase customer satisfaction by 30% in the year of 2015
: To reduce the cost from 10% to 5 % in 2 years
To make the goal go smoothly and successfully, it is required to know that every one is a piece of the organization and then each department has to share ideas to work towards achievement.
